Sometimes a glittering career hides some of the saddest stories. Jones began training to prepare for a career in track. She won each of in the Torino Memorial and the Heusden Track races that same year.

Brandt was born and raised in Cape Town in South African. She emigrated into Auckland New Zealand with her family in her late teens. Lesley Brandt starred in the show Spartacus: Blood and Sand in the role of Naevia, a hostage who was later seen in the Spartacus: Gods of the Arena Miniseries.
