Meredith Salenger

Salenger was born and raised in Malibu, California. She was a performer for friends and family as young children. At the age of eight years old, her mother brought her to her very first class in acting. Her first role was a small part as the 'orphan with a singing and dancing dance' in the feature film Annie which was directed by John Huston. Salenger had also been featured in a series ads on TV. Her first role as a lead actor was part of the Disney movie The Journey of Natty Gann with John Cusack and Ray Wise The film was the first US film to receive the gold award from the Moscow Film Festival. Additionally, she was awarded "Best Female actor in a dramatic" at the Youth in Film Awards in recognition of her role as the fun-loving Natty. Following her appearance in 4 more movies by the time she was just 18, including A Night in the Life of Jimmy Reardon after which she left Hollywood for Harvard to continue her education.
